These two activities are not mutually incompatible, but it occurs to me there can be a difference. My definition of work: if they don’t pay me to do it, I won’t be back tomorrow. My definition of passion: I’m going to do it whether they pay me or not. This distinction is important to me as I “work” with clay. Although I have to do something with the results of my work, I will continue to produce pieces no matter whether they sell in the market or not. In other words, success to me is not defined by the market, but by my own criteria.
